Solana is a high-performance, open-source blockchain designed for decentralised applications and crypto assets. Founded by Anatoly Yakovenko in 2017 and launched in 2020, Solana can process up to 65,000 transactions per second (TPS) with block times of approximately 400ms.
Solana achieves this speed through its novel Proof-of-History (PoH) consensus mechanism, which creates a historical record that proves events occurred at a specific moment in time, combined with Proof-of-Stake (PoS) for validation.
